ie6 error message

sometimes when i type in a internet address i get a error
message saying:
Microsoft Visual c++ runtime library
program : c:\windows\explorer.exe
abnormal program termination

then my computer crashes.
any suggestions?

Microsoft Visual C++, Runtime Error Program
C:\Windows\Explorer.exe or Iexplore.exe, abnormal program termination.

also make sure you don't have both the Sun JRE and the Microsoft VM JIT
compiler enabled.
