IE6 Doesn't Open

When clicking the IE icon one my desktop the browser simply refuses to open.
I don't get any messages. All I know it that when I click the browser after
having connected to the internet (dsl connection) the browser does not open.
The problem has developed over the past week and I have no idea what is
wrong. Sometimes the browser opens and then later on it does not. It gets
quite annoying after a while. I have no idea what to do.

I was having the same problem which started about 1 1/2 weeks ago also. I
ran CounterSpy, which I downloaded from Cnet.com and found that a Spyware
program had added a plugin to my IE6 and took it over. CounterSpy has a tool
that allows you to search any addins to your IE and you can disable each one
by one to determine which is causing your problem. Mine was one called
SpyGuard, once I disabled it, my IE has been running normally again. Hope
