IE6 Crash

S

Steve

The following error occurs when visiting certain sites. The dialog box
appears, followed by options to send the error to Microsoft.

I'm fully updated on all patches, and running Windows 2000 SP 4

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

What sites cause the crash. The error indicates that something is trying to
access your hard drive. (shlwapi is the Shell Windows Application
Interface - which is used to read and write to your drive). Possible an
ActiveX control.

Regards.

KB918899 might be the problem. Microsoft are working on a fix as I
understand it.
I tried the following work around and it works.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, follow these steps: 1. Start Internet Explorer
6.
2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the
Advanced tab.
3. In the Settings box, click to clear the Use HTTP 1.1 check box
under HTTP 1.1 settings, and then click OK.
