IE6 and IE7 problems is it virus?

I updated my Internet Explorer (IE) to IE7 before then one day I got a message asking me to update my IE7, when I clicked ok it finally changed to IE6.

I have not been able to upgrade to IE7 again

Can you please tell me if IE6 IS LATEST OF IE7

HOW CAN I UPGRADE TO HIGHER VERSION

Sometims when I want to shutdown my pc i get the following message which i guess it relates to IE as it will be the last program running.

Tha instruction at "0x7c910f29" referenced memory at "0x00000067" memory could not be read.

Please help!
