IE won't start - MS Visual C++ Runtime Library

Suddenly, unexpectedly, IE will not start & I receive the error heading;
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library, followed by the path to IE, and then
the message, This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more
information. I have tried downloading IE 6 SP I and this doesn't work as I
get the message that my version is newer and it won't load. Is there another
solution?

Uninstall the Google toolbar.
