When I opened IE 6.0 I received an error.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error
Programme C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it
in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for
information.
IE closed, all screens blank. Pressed Reset button,
Scandisc ran. Started again.

Any suggestions?

The application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
It appears that I have both Java(Sun) and MS VM on the PC. After
disabling/unchecking Java(Sun) the runtime error ceased in IE6.
