IE wont let me access a software update site

Whenever I try to update a software program or patch a
game, IE will not link to the update page only giving me
an error message. Example: My Need For Speed game has
an update sofware link in the start menu for that game.
When I click the link, IE will not access the update
page. Same thing for other software programs such as I-
Tunes.

All help appreciated

Thanks for the response. I reset "web options" under the

programs tab under internet options and everything is
fine now.
