IE won't display websites....

I have a good connection to the internet (my instant messengers will
connect), but when I go to internet explorer it says page can't be displayed.
If I reboot my computer, it works perfectly and I can surf the web for maybe
5 minutes before I start getting the "page cannot be displayed" message
again. Yet my messengers will still work! I have my computer hooked through a
linksys router (we have a motorola cable modem). My mom's computer is not
having any problems displaying websites. I've already ruled out problems with
the router as I encounter the same problem if I directly connect through the
modem.

Your problem could either be spyware or browser security related. Try
running a spyware remover and check your brower's security settings.

Hi,

Yes, it could be spyware. Update and run Adaware and Spybot, just in case
they find something.

Additional possibilities:

- You might have set your mail program to collect mail automatically, and
to close the connection afterwards. Check Outlook or Outlook Express
settings.
- IE, Tools, Internet Options, Connections. There might be a connection
listed that you don't use or don't use any more. Delete it.

Kind regards

Hans

How do you connect to the Internet?
Dial-up, ADSL, Satellite, Cable?
