IE won't display basic authentication box

Most of my users browse to our site, and the index page is blank, and IE just pops up a basic authentication box, and if they type in their username and password correctly, they get redirected further into the site. One user gets there and just sees the blank page, and no basic authentication box pops up. Do you have any idea what could be turned off in IE so that this would happen? It doesn't sound like it's really related to their cookies.

Hi,
Internet Options> Security> Internet> Custom Level> User Authentication>
Prompt for user name and password.

That's kind of a guess. If a better suggestion comes along, try it. ;-)

Have they tried deleting any cookies related to the site?
