Even though my router looks fine and outlook is sending and receiving
SOMETIMES NOT ALWAYS my IE will provide a message indicating that it cannot
connect to the internet, as if the router were down. Any and all help will
be greatly appreciated. Verizon Techs can not figure it out.

Start button --> RUN --> type in:

cmd /k netsh winsock reset

--> OK

Reboot the computer.

Come back and let us know if that worked.

Thanks for all the responses and help.

With the help of my ISP we were able to find the problem after numerous
phone calls and a gazillion hours on the phone. After trying to ping YAHOO ,
I received error 65. This was a long way from IE not working and OUTLOOK
working but when we pinged, neither IE nor OUTLOOK was working. The intermet
connection to the router was fine. Doing a search engine search with a
search key of "Microsoft error 65" yielded the following: "When you try to
check another network connection you receive the "Ping: transmit failed,
error code 65" error message" Which offered up several possible causes one
of which was ZONEALARM. I am using ONE CARE and stopped using ZONEALARM a
while ago BUT I had not deinstalled it in case I did not like ONE CARE. Once
I deinstalled ZONEALARM, everything returned to normal. Thenks again for all
your help.q
