ie won't come up

Help!!!
When I click on the internet explorer icon on my desk top, ie will not open. I have cable modem so that is how I get online. This has never happened before yesterday. I tried everything I could think of, even did a ping and that was fine. Can someone come up with another idea????

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.
