IE /Win media player Crash

G

Guest

I watch music videos with my niece (launch.com) but when we click to watch
music videos, my IE shuts down and gives the following error message:
"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience".
The "Error Signature" the I receive when I look at the error report is:
AppName: inexlore.exe AppVer:6.0.2900.2180 ModName: wininet.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2900.2668 Offset: 0007926b

This also happens for video/music on other websites. Another example, i'm
not able to see the video feeds or the reports from CNN, movie
trailers...etc.

Anybody know what could be causing this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I experience the same problems. I'm not sure if this is a Internet explorer
problem or windows media player 10 problem. But I couldn't find any help on
either application.

If you want to try to diagnose this you need to get more detail than the
Error Signature of the OP. E.g. assuming there were typos in the OP's
transcription of his Error Signature you might get some clues from the
Stack Back Trace in drwtsn32.log which captures this crash.
The relevant Stack Back Trace can be found (in an English dump)
by doing a find (e.g. in Notepad) for FAULT -> up from the bottom
and then paging ahead to the Stack Back Trace section.

Even more useful results could be obtained by using symbols
with the dump. Here is an excerpt from a previous post about
doing that if you're interested:

Clearly you are not having "the same problem" as the OP. ;)

What are the properties of this module? Where did you get it?

What are the properties of your quartz.dll? (one of its calls.)

It looks as if there was some kind of overlay or the return address
was corrupted somehow, etc. One possible explanation would be
that the two modules mmswitch.ax and quartz.dll are no longer
compatible. Could you try a different Codec?

BTW notice the readable text implied by the Raw Stack Dump?

In Track 1
and
(rendered)

Do either of those strings appear anyway in the app's UI?
