IE will not display any pages

Running win98 SE, Internet Explorer 6 sp1. I can ping any
IP address I want, including my firewall, and get
successful replies. But when I use Internet Explorer I
cannot get any pages to display what so ever, even if I
use the IP address instead of the URL. Tried it on my
firewall and could not get a page to come up from that
either. This is bosses daughters computer so I have no
friggen clue what is on it, but does anyone have
suggestions. DNS is enabled, and I've even manually set a
couple of server addresses in the DNS tab of network
setup.

Sounds like a winsock problem.
Try the free program LSP-Fix from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm then check
for the malware which may have caused the problem.

Already ran spybot search & destroy and came up with a few
of the usual suspects, fixed them and still have this
problem. But I'll give that a try, thank you.
