IE will not connect to the internet

After having to clean up some spyware with AdAware and Spybot IE and other
applicatons cannot access the internet. Any ideas on where to look to fix
this? The PC is on a home LAN network and will communicate with other PCs
and printer on the LAN. TCP/IP is working and I can ping the gateway. Thanks
