IE update

I have attempted to download the IE 6 service pack 1, but
when I try to open the setup file (ie6setup.exe)to
install the update, I get the message that this is not a
valid WIN32 application. I get this message for a couple
of other updates that I have tried to download and
install. I have Windows XP. What's my problem and how do
I correct it? Thank you in advance for your help.

You did not get a good download. Disable all background programs, including
ad-blocker, anti-virus, and Norton Win Doctor.
