You can get rid of the colors or add your own using the registry editor,
however you added "Novice" to the name so you probably don't want to do
that. Anyway here's the customary warning.
Much of the WIndows operating system depends on data stored in the registry,
which means that accidental changes can completely trash your system, and
you may not be able to recover it.
You can run the registry editor by going to the start button, selecting run
and typing the word REGEDIT in the text box. It looks a bit like an ordinary
folder.
From this point on be very careful, careless clicking can kill your system.
Just like you would with a folder you can navigate down following this path
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar
In the right pane, when you get to the toolbar netry you should see an entry
for BackBitmapIE5 which will have a value shown... this is the value of the
ugly bitmap you are seeing. It is just a small "Picture" somewhere on your
machine and that value will tell you where it is.
To remove the value double click on the word BackBitmapIE5 and a box should
pop up with that value in it for you to change.
Simply erase what is in the box and when you close the popup you will see
the value has gone from the entry in the right hand pane.
Be sure you don't alter anything else, go slowly and carefully. Now close
regedit as you would a normal folder and next time you open IE it should
have no picture on the toolbar.
The little file attachment with this post will do this for you, save it to
your
desktop as it is then rename it with the extention .reg instead of .txt but
there is
a risk that damage will occur whenever you double click on a file with the
extension .reg so I have to say it is at your own risk. You can open it with
notepad first to check it's contents and when you double click it that is
what will be added to your registry. You really should not open files from
newsgroups without checking them first.
