IE - The page cannot be displayed

Hi all

I wonder if someone can help me please? I have just prucased a new computer
and am using IE6. I am just using dial up at the moment. It works fine for a
while and then I am confronted with "The Page Cannot Be Displayed" for any
website I try to connect to even though the PC is still connected to the
interent. I have tried it with two different ISP's and it is the same result?
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thanks

A temporary fix is to download the Firefox browser at www.mozilla.org
It is much like IE except without all the bugs. IE is so unreliable that
it's good to have a backup browser.

Cheers Smoker. I have downloaded Mozilla. It hasn't made things worse, but it
doesn't work full stop. It can't even find it's own home page on log-in! I
have selected it as my default browser. Any other suggestions?

Cheers

Hi,
First clear the cache and set it's size to 50-60 MB. The default cache size
setting is usually unnecessarily large.
IE> Tools> Internet Options> General> Delete files (and delete offline
content.)

Check for malware. It takes no time at all to become infected. Work through
the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm Also note the security tips on that
page.

Hope this helps,
Don
