IE "The page cannot be displayed" Error

I've had this error pop up on all of the profiles on my computer.

At the moment, we are all using Firefox to connect to the internet, however
my parents aren't happy about this because of their used to IE.

The internet connection woirks as it always has done, it is only IE that
seems to be effected.

IE refuses to show ANY online websites, however, websites that I have made
myself show up fine.

I've re-registered some of the .dll files that were suggested in another
post, and I have also tried repairing the install of IE (going to add/remove
programs, selecting windows components, and only leaving IE ticked)

Thanks for any help

Hi Tim,

Windows version?XP home, professional? All service packs? Should be SP2 for
XP machines. Re-installation of IE is different for different windows
versions.

You have probably done too much to "fix" IE already, so I suggest that you
1. Scan and remove any malware or viruses on your 'puter.
2. Re-install IE

Regards.

Woops, sorry about that Rob

I'm running Xp home sp2.

Only problem with downloading IE was that it gave me an error saying I
needed IE5 or later to download it :-\ IS it possible to get 7, and then
downgrade to 6?

Thanks again Rob

Hi, as far asIE & and going back to IE 6 you can upgrade to IE 7 then go into
the control panel and select add/remove programs, select Windows IE 6 and
remove. Then you are back to IE 6. However I don't know if this will solve
your problem.
Best regards,
Kaja
