I am a Qwest DSL/MSN Premium subscriber with rated speeds
of 1500kbps/1000kbps and under normal conditions reach
1380/850. After installing IE security patch 832894 I
noticed my upload speeds decreased significantly (from
850 to less than 400kbps). I uninstalled the patch and
the speed returned to normal. I was told by a Microsoft
tech support associate that the issue should be resolved
once sp2 was released. Of course, I jumped the gun and
installed sp2 pre-release and noticed the same thing.
I was wondering if anyone else has noticed the same thing
and if so knows what I can do about it. Is there a
registry hack that would correct the problem perhaps? I
would like to have all security patched installed on my
home network, but not while sacrificing more than half of
my upload speed.
