On several systems where I work, users are reporting that Internet Explorer
is initially very slow opening pages. In some cases it can take up to a
minute before IE even begins to attempt to load the page.
We have tried updating IE with the latest patches and running several
different spyware/malware detection programs, but nothing has changed this
behavior.
One work-around that we have found is to have the user type the complete URL
(including the http:// portion to identify the protocal). It appears that IE
is getting confused on what protocal to use if you simply enter a URL such as
www.ford.com. If you enter http://www.ford.com, the site loads immediately.
Has anyone else come across this problem? While there is a work-around (to
type the protocal at the beginning of the address) many of our users consider
this too "cumbersome" a solution and are basically demanding an actual fix.
