IE slow to connect to internet

After installing windows xp sp2 patch internet explorer takes as long as two
min. to connect
to my broadband internet acc. This excessive time only happens on boot or
reboot.

I have installed the patch on three computers all with broadband, all have
the same delay time.

Is this normal?

It didn't take that long to connect before the patch was installed.

have you got Norton Internet Security 2002 or Norton Anti-Virus 2002 and
using Telewest Broadband. (United Kingdom) if so this is down to Telewest
updating their anti-virus software to Norton 2004.

I had this and got Norton 2004 and have had no problems getting the speed I
am paying for now.
