IE slow loading

hi, recently ive been trying to helo a friend to whom has xpsp2 home edition
that IE takes anywhere from 10-15 seconds now to load, you click the quick
launch and nothing happens for about that long, we ran all the spyware checks
included with that Adaware, spybot, ewido, mcas, spysweeper, avg, and online
scans at panda, trendmicro, and bitdefender. all updated definitions, nothing
founded on any, ran a hijackthis, and the log file produced nothing out of
the ordinary, cannot proform a repair as her computer shop installed sp2 but
did not supply a disk or slipstream to it and the repair option keeps asking
her for the sp2 disk, we had tried several options supplied from a general
google search including the following,,

To do this, run Regedit and go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
\RemoteComputer\NameSpace
Highlight the {D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} Value and delete it:
right-click on it -> select Delete -> click OK.

that did not work, at all so we restored the registry with the back up made
with erunt right before attempting this. any other ideas or thoughts will be
appreciated, thank you.

Hi There,

A couple of posts down I was asking the same thing. It appeared to start
happening for me when I did the update from to my Java to 6.x

I am trying to see if I can load the previous version of Java to see if that
fixes it.

well well well, that would make sense we had done that right before the
problem started happening....damn it, im going to try to find that as well,
another thing though, i dont know if this would be related, but the system
icons all started looking really bad, and ugly rather generic in appearence,
a screenshot of the recycle bin is here

now i really do not know what the heck happened but i dont think that that
java would nave anything to do with that do you??? lol ;-D
either way, im looking for the new java now or rather, old....

thank you, this is what i did, i went here
http://java.sun.com/products/archive/index.html and found the download for
the previous version JRE 1.5.0_05 and downloaded it to my desktop, then went
in to ADD/REMOVE and removed the update 6 (JRE1.5.0_06) rebooted and
installed the 1.5.0.05. all is perfect now, back to where it was, i also
disabled the AU on it.
