problem with registry!

Hello there,

I got a tip that deleting the registrykey
(D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF) would actually speed up my internet
browsing,, however that wasn't the case!

My browsing has become awful! I didn't recover the key.. but asked a friend
to recover it in his system and send me a copy.. He did but it didnt get
sorted!

I still got a problem browsing any websites, especially new web pages that I
haven't browsed before. I also got a problem with my History! No websites are
saved in History, eventhough my internet options I got "Days to keep pages in
history 20"! Also in the AutoComplete Settings I got ticks on web addresses
and all other boxes.. Still no websites are saved. Could it be that i deleted
another important key by mistake?! What can I do?!

Any help would be highly appreciated :)

Thanks alot!

{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} is the CLSID for Scheduled Tasks.

Is this the key you deleted?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current
Version/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace/{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F
5BF}

Is this the article you got the tip from?
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kb...s/Network/XPspeedupaccesstonetworkshares.html

Then import the key that you exported.

Or here
http://www.winxpcentral.com/basics/Speed Tweas.php

Looks like a really stupid tip to me.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Remote
Computer\NameSpace\{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}
(Default)
REG_SZ
Scheduled Tasks

Hi Wesley,

That's where I got the tip!

I tried importing the key, and it seemed to be successful. However, my
browsing is still soooo slow especially of new websites, and my browser
doesn't save any websites in the history!!

I tried restoring the system to a previous point, but that didn't work
either.. I got an error message, saying that operation couldn't be done!

Wouldn't performing an in-place upgrade means losing data?!

Not unless something goes very wrong. Of course, backing up data
before any such action is always a good idea, just in case.
