IE show JPG images incorrectly, like coloured noise.

I've rebuild with spare part a PC based on a Athlon
1100MHz CPU (not Athlon-XP) and a motherboard based on
KT133 chipset.

I've a very very strange problem. JPG image are show in
Internet Explorer like a coloured "noise", only a lot of
coloured points.
Only JPG. PNG, GIF etc. etc. are show correctly.
If I save the JPG image and if I see it later with
another sofware, it's ok

I've tried installing from scratch the following OS:
Windows ME (IE 5.0)
Windows 2000 Professional (IE 5.5)
Windows XP Home sp1 (IE 6.0)
without success.

I've tried to change RAM, 4 video card (AGP and PCI) and
some other hardware. It's the same.

If I use Mozilla or Opera browser, all work fine and JPG
are show correctly.
The same problem is in Outlook Express: if I received an
email with a JPG image, I've the same problem.

So I suppose that there is a DLL (used by IE and Outlook
Express) that has a bug in decoding JPG code, perhaps
only using Athlon processor.

Any idea ?
Thanks in advance.

somewhat similar thing happens here
but that problem seems to come and go
usually shows OK until the mouse pointer cross's over top of the pic, then
it becomes colored gritty static.
