Any idea when and if MS will issue a patch for the recent ie security
flaw? As a workaround, I tried disabling scripting (as was suggested in
several news posts) but the problem with that was that I could no longer
reach windowsupdate.

Yes, I think it has been mentioned in windowsupdate group - I would keep an
eye on this in that group

Keep your AV updated - use Win One Care Safety Centre and scan to remove any
mal, software.
