ie secure page problems

I have had some viruses and have eliminated them through various anti-virus programs...since this time I have been unable to access any secure pages (https) on the internet through ie. I have looked through all of the internet options that I can think of and nothing seems to work. I have even tried to download several alternative browsers and I have a new problem with them and that is that they will not recognize that I am connected to the internet through my dial-up connection even though I am. What Gives?

In Internet Explorer -
1. Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
2. Scroll down to the Security Settings.
3. Make sure that the two boxes are checked that say
"Enable SSL 2" or "Enable SSL 3".
Try your secure sites.

Another thing you can try is:
Go to start/run
Type in: regsvr32 softpub.dll
