IE Search Button

The first time I click on Internet Explorer after
starting my machine, the browser opens up with the search
button depressed. I can deselect it and it goes away and
stays off until the next time I reboot my pc. Then the
first time I open IE it is on again. Any suggestions on
how to make this button not always on on the first boot?
