ie redirects in to a blank page

Have removed virus and ad-files, after this the webpages
such as www.hotmail.com or www.windowsupdate.com does not
redirect from the original site, what can be wrong?

Some viruses can cause damage to the registry files, If

reference materials on correcting or deleting registry
items the virus may have inserted or damaged when you
were infected.
