I have only had my computer for a week but sometimes when I try to close IE
it hangs on certain sites and then brings up a window where windows is
trying to find a answer as to why this is happening. Of course nothing ever
comes of it or I click cancel to just go ahead and close IE. Is there a way
of disabling this stupid function since it hasn't never worked for me yet
and keeps the window open sometimes up to 2 extra minutes.

Sounds like a Add on problem, check Tools > Manage Add On to check if there
any add ons that might causing IE to hang, select the suspected add on and
click Disable. Make sure you have latest versions of Adobe Flash Player and
Java 6 SE runtime installed.

I know of three causes for the vast majority of such problems:
1. Incompatible add-ons: What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop
and choose Start Without Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No Add-ons).

2. Tools | Internet Options | Advanced
Scroll to the bottom and click Reset Internet Explorer Settings. See this
article first:

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.
