IE not remembering password with DSL connection

my dsl connection doesn't remember passwords or id's on
websites that require them. I've set Internet Explorer 6.0
options to remember passwords and to prompt when inputting
one for the first time.my computer with dial up does the
above, but not my dsl connected one running with win xp-
pro.any suggestions?
