IE not default browser

P

Perry Mumme

Whenever I try to click on a web page specified in a e-
mail message, Outlook tries to open the message by
calling up Netscape. I have IE on my laptop but there
doesn't seem to be any way to specify it as the default
browser that Outlook uses. I had Netscape on the laptop
at one time but it was removed.

When I click on a hyperlink in an Outlook e-mail
message , I get a message, "Windows cannot find
Netscape.exe. This program is needed for opening files
of type 'URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocol'." And then it
wants me to find Netscape by browsing.

I am using IE 5.5 and Outlook 2002.

By the way, in I.E. I have gone under TOOLS/INTERNET
OPTIONS/PROGRAMS and checked the box that
specifies "Internet Explorer should check to see whether
it is the default browser" - this does nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

go to control panel->intenet options->set IE as the default. If this does
not work, try resetting it to Netscape and than back to IE.
