I am having a slight problem lately with web links where some will open and
some result in "cannot find server". I decided to do a repair operation by
going to add/remove and finding the repair console for IE and it is not
there. Does anyone know where to find the exe for this function or why this
is happening?
I.E. 6.0.2800.110.xpsp2.030320-1720

TIA,
Nuke

Start Notepad.
Copy the following into the text file and save it
as "IE6_uninstall.reg":
;;;;;;;;;;;;;start copy here;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi
on\Uninstall\IE40]
@=""
"DisplayName"="Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1"
"DisplayIcon"="C:\\Program Files\\Internet
Explorer\\iexplore.exe"
"UninstallString"="rundll32 C:\\WINNT\\System32
\\setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance C:\\Program Files\\Internet
Explorer\\IE Uninstall\\W2KEXCP.EXE /u"
;;;;;;;;;;;finish copy here;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
This should add it back to Add/remove programs.

Or to uninstall it the DOS way, go to Start, Run and type:
C:\WINNT\System32\setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance C:\Program
Files\Internet Explorer\IE Uninstall\W2KEXCP.EXE /u

Make sure you can install it immediately afterwards.
Winodws Explorer and IE are now like siamese twins. I
think that's why MS took it out of Add/Remove.

Either that or they're still smarting from federal court
and wish to use adware techniques of not giving you a
means to remove it. I now don't find the unisntall string
on any of my W2K or WinXP machines.

TC, thanks for the effort but the URL you gave me doesn't work.
