IE Keeps Shutting Down

Since yesterday, when I start IE, the home page opens up,
but as soon as I trying going to another site, IE freezes
up, and then displays a msg saying that it has to shut
down, and gives me the option of sending MS an error
report. I had to download Netscape, and it worked fine.
Could the IE problem be related to the Macromedia Flash
upgrade that I downloaded y'day? And could anyone help me
fix it? Thanks.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
