IE keeps crashing when closing pop-ups

IE keeps crashing when closing pop-ups or windows that
have been opened as a result of using "Open in new
window". It doesn't creash when closing a browser window
opened normally, but when closing in either of the two
above circumstances, IE closed and I am prompted to report
the problem, after which all browser windows related to
the one with the problem close too.

Given the frequency of pop-ups, this makes IE nearly
unusable.

I have reinstalled IE6 and SP1, and gone to the Microsoft
update site, downloaded and installed all updates, but
this still happens.

I have uninstalled all pop-up blockers, media players and
anti-virus (except for Norton Anti-Virus and McAfee
Firewall which were installed months before this problem
started), all to no avail.

I'M GOING NUTS HERE! Will someone please help?

I'd love to know the answer to this too, I'm having the
same problem.
Seems all anyone can recommend is run Ad-aware & spybot
update IE and if that fails then silence!
