IE is only opening 1 page

i let someone use my pc. they downloaded and installed something. now whenever i click on IE it is set to this smarsearch.ws page. i try to reset web settings or reset my homepage to msn.com but it always goes back to that smartserach.ws page. how do i find the source that is not allowing me to change my homepage. it won't even let me type in the address bar

Download, install, update and run Ad Aware. Find it on
google.

Run the "Cool Web Shredder"
check for update first.

Close all instances of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express,
click on the executable above and follow the prompts.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
Make sure you scroll down to Cool Web Search and use CWShredder.
If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
