IE is fried!

Any idea what's the matter? When I open the program, it
takes as long as 5 minutes to get running, and freezes
often. It is basically useless, cannot go to more than two
sites without freezing, and throws up pop-ups like it's its
job. This problem has only been occurring recently after
years of use... all new updates and such have been
installed. Help!
 
I have had great improvements by deleting all history, all
passwords, and all autocomplete. Then run one of the many
adware removal tools. Big improvements but most important
was disabling SAHagent. Make sure you have a restore
point (if running xp) before starting.
