IE invalid page fault in module user.exe

I get this message in IE after searching the Internet (esp
Google) for a few minutes. After message is displayed IE
shuts down. It also deactivates my desktop screen
background picture. Does anyone have suggestions how to
resolve this problem?

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).
