ie homepage

my home page is greyed out..meaning i cannot change
from ......... tools/options....the 'homepage' area is
all greyed out.

however if i go to a site that has ability to change
home page it will change,,,,,,example go to msn ,button
says click to make this your home page ,,it will then
change,,, same with other sites.... but i want to know is
why is it greyed out and what steps do i take to fix.

This restriction can also be caused by spyware. Update your spyware program and check
your system on a regular basis.

If you are running Spybot already, open in Advanced Mode and check this:
Click on Immunize and uncheck the option "Lock IE control panel...." (Under
"Recommended miscellaneous protections" section) - old version 1.2
Exit Spybot and restart IE

Re-enable Internet Options:
Line 268. Restore All Tabs under Internet Options - Windows XP
