IE help needed

Hello
I was wondering if somebody could help me out???

Every time I start IE (version 6 SP1 and internet tools) part of my homepage
starts to load and then IE stops responding and my PC does the same. I can't
do CTRL ALT DEL to shut IE down, I have to turn the PC off without logging
out which isn't ideal.

This has happened about 10 times the last few days and I've managed to get
back into IE in the end, but today the PC just keeps freezing.

Any help as to what I can do to fix the problem would be great.

Cheers
Paul

I'd be surprised if this an issue with IE. PC problems of "freezing"
are among the most difficult to sort out and takes a lot of problem
solving. Here is one (1) site that offers a systematic approach to
try and solve this issue.

http://www.jrwhipple.com/computer_hangs.html

Having offered that suggestion, have you recently updated the video
card or the video driver? Or have you updated the mouse or the mouse
driver. Both of these changes have caused us some problems with this
issue.

Finally, if you read this, please post the Operating System installed
on this computer. There are 1-2 other suggestions depending on the
OS.

Good luck with this issue.

Open the Internet Options applet in Control Panel.
Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions" on the Advanced tab.
Restart the computer.

Then eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**
Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Thanks for the websites links to look at and your advice. What I have found
is I had my homepage set to yahoo.co.uk and when I changed to something else
like www.google.com it didn't lock up the pc.
Strange !
