IE freezes on startup with clipboard popup message

would anyone know how to fix Internet Explorer which pops up with a window
asking "Do you want this page to paste information from your clipboard" and I
can't get rid of the popup window by hitting yes, no or x. It prevents me
from using the web so I have to go to Aol to use the browser. I have windows
Xp and ran the Norton Anti virus and it said finally today that I have MHTML
Redir.Exploit trojan horse, but not to worry about it. I ran Adaware and
spybot, cw shredder but to no avail. I would appreciate any help on the
problem.

To remove the "trojan" NAV found, do a Start...Search...Files for
"exploit.htm" and delete it.

If you have all the latest security patches for Windows/IE from Windows
Update, then you really don't have to worry about it. NAV is probably
finding that file in your Temporary Internet Files folder - just empty your
TIF via Tools...Internet Options...General tab before scanning.

As for your other problem, if Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D were run with updated
definitions and didn't find anything, as with CWS, then you'll need further
help....

First, download a winsock repair tool, to have just in case cleaning up
anything found breaks it -

Winsock repair tools:
LSPFix- all versions of Windows http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.zip
Winsock2 Fix- Win98, ME
http://www.bu.edu/pcsc/internetaccess/winsock2fix.html
LavaSoft- all versions of Windows-

The problem could be something new that the
spyware cleaners above don't have in their databases yet. In that case....
