IE freezes for 45-50 sec. then resumes

My IE works fine for about 3-5 minutes and then freezes
for about 45-50 seconds. It then resumes for another 3-5
minutes and the cycle continues. If I hit control-alt-
delete, it says not responding. I have a roadrunner
connection, WME is my operating system, and I use IE 6.0.
I don't know what's wrong, but the people I have talked
to, tell me it's a problem with IE. Please help.

If you have an unused network card disable it in Device Manager.
