IE Favorites Icons

Dave Zook

The Favorites Menu (Organizing) contains icons. Some items that have been
synchronized have a special icon, but other that have also been synchronized
have regular IE icon.

Is there a page somewhere which shows all icons used for MS software. Or, a
page showing only the icons for IE, Outlook Express, and Outlook would be
helpful.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

TIA

"The icons themselves are stored locally in your Temporary Internet Files
folder, and they will disappear from both the Address bar and the Favorites menu
when you clear that folder.

You can use PC Magazine's free FavOrg utility to make the Favorites menu icons
permanent. "

two methods.
----------------------------------------
start
find
type in ".ico" (without quotes)
most system icons will list
------------------------------------------
position cursor over icon
right click -> properties
pick [change icon] button 'or' customize tab[change icon]
available icons should show up
---------------------------------------
icons from websites after 'add to favorites'
show up in internet temp file. for a short time
only depending on how much meg you have for temp file.
if you break the connection and icon disappears
from 'temp' file the website will revert to windows icon.

Hi Dave - These are known as favicons.ico (Favorite Icons) and they normally
will only last until your Internet Explorer Temp files are cleared.

You need to get a program called FavOrg 1.4 here:

http://www.gratilog.net/anglais/internet/favorg.zip
http://uk.geocities.com/personel44/files/favorg.zip

or Version 1.2 here:

http://www.liemar.com.br/construindoseusite/downloads/favorg.zip
http://www.themes.myqth.com/Downloads/favorg.zip

(still free at these links) which will allow you to save them permanently
in a different folder and re-associate your favorites with the stored icons.
(It will also verify whether your links in Favorites are stll good, BTW.)

If you want to read more about it first, go here:
