IE errors; DNS errors; how to uninstall IE ?

I had IE 5.5 working all right on my Win ME untill some worm came to me.
After fixing worm-file and installing IE 6.1 over IE 5.5 my local html-pages are displayed IN ORDER, but when I'm trying to open any web-based html-page, IE says: "Unable to display a page; DNS Error". At the same time all my dialup-connections remain the same as always, and working Netscape (7.1, which I use now as test-program) displays web-pages through these connections OK
But I really need IE for my work (and not Netscape or any other browser)..

I tried reinstalling IE 6.1 many times - it didn't help
I tried to deinstall IE from my computer totally, but it was possible only to deinstall IE 6 to the previous version (IE 5.5), and when I tried to deinstall IE 5.5 it appeared to be impossible to do that (deinstallationn prog says: unable to deinstall).

I would like to remove all IE-files from my computer in order to make new clean IE- installation (because I need IE!), but I do not know how to do that
Any suggestions? Does anyone knows, how is it possible to remove all IE-files from computer for to make clean installation of IE 6 ??

Sincerely
Kosta.

Kosta,
The malware may have damaged your winsock settings. Or removing the malware
may have done the same. Download and run LSP-Fix from
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

You should then search for other malware with:
Spybot - Search & Destroy:
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=spybotsd
(Remove items listed in red)
Ad-aware 6- Lavasoft: http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Both of these programs should be updated after installing, before using.
CWShredder 1.51 from http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/CWShredder.zip

Additional information, including security tips at:

IE6 will provide some additional security, but it's best to get IE5.5
working properly before you upgrade.

First eliminate any scumware.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**
Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
