IE Eradicator Program Use

I want to remove and reinstall IE to possibly get rid of a problem I have with not being able to save images.

I was told to download (bit not install) the IE 6, and an eradicator program to get rd of the present IE 6. I have also done that, but have not run it yet..

Reading the notes, the eradicator states it is not compatable with Windows 2000, service release 2. Looking at what I presently have on my computer, I have 2000, service pack 4. Will the eradicator work and will I be able to reinstall IE without problems?

IEradicator was written originally (I believe) for Win95. This warning: "Not
for use with Windows 2000sr2 or Windows XP" would stop me from using it on
Win2k SR4.

But... what is the image problem?

The image problem is that I downloaded the security update for IE 6 and can now no longer save images from the web. I have visited sites that I visited before the install/update where I know images can be saved andI now get the messgae Access is Denied.

I have gone as far to visit the MS site and save the photo of the girl in front of her computer and get the same message. I visit the same site from another computer with IE, and this computer with Mozilla and can save the same image just fine.

I found the update in my add/remove programs and removed it, but still no success. This really stinks....

Thanks, Darrell

Look to other programs which could be causing this. Here's my standard post:
I don't think the latest security patch is involved.

Many possibilities...
Try the quick, easy fix first. Clear the IE cache from IE> Tools> Internet
Options> General> Delete files and Delete offline content. Reset the TIF
folder size to about 50MB (Settings button) and clear it occasionally.

Additional information from Mike Burgess:

Are you using a Firewall or "filtering software"?

Several of these are known to cause problems:
1) Zone Alarm Pro [Private Header Info - enabled?]
Reset "Ad Blocking" and "Cookie Control" to "medium"
"Mobile Code Control" = Off

2) Symantec (ISS\NIS)[Enable Browser Privacy - enabled]
Active Content - "Allow All Script To Execute"
Problem: some sites cannot detect the 128 bit encryption
Solution: Completely remove and reinstall NIS.

3) Any "ad blocking" software that blocks "http_referer"
or contains entries that are blocking access to the desired site.

4) HOSTS file that contains entries that are blocking access to the desired
site.

5) Cookie blocking software that are blocking "required" Cookies.

6) Pop-up blockers that are stripping header\url info.

7) WebWasher Standard Filter/URL Filter

8) Make sure the following entry is not corrupt:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings]
"User Agent"="Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Win32)"

Note: "Win32" = Windows 98\ME
Other versions = (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0;)

To check your "User Agent":
Paste the below into the Address Bar and view the output:

javascript:navigator.userAgent

[Example WinME output]
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; Win 9x 4.90)
