IE crashing - ?

S

Steve

Using XP Home with IE6. Every so often, usually with several IE
windows open, I'll get a message from my AutoSave backup program that
says it has "detected the start of a new program installation from
\windows\system32\dllcache\setup.exe"

Then, a few seconds later, I'll get a message from IE that it has
encountered a problem and needs to close. So I shut down IE, then
restart it, and everything works normally again.

Any idea what might be going on? Thanks!

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

I've run the scumware checkers and cwshredder, checked the parasites
page and got message: "Your browser has been checked for parasites.
None were found." Posted the HijackThis log but never received any
response. The problem is still occurring, at random times, usually
after opening several IE windows.
