IE cannot open the internet site ...operation aborted

Recently I have been unable to access many sites that I
previously had access to. I get the error
message "Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site
(name of site) operation aborted. Can anyone offer
suggestions on how to solve this problem?

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).

Having experienced similar symptoms to that of veronica (as you can see in
my post "Will Not Load Page" posted yesterday at 18:19) I decided to try
this removal tool. It found a couple of problems which it fixed (thanks to H
Leboeuf for suggesting the program) although unfortunatly it has not had any
noticible effects. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what else
might be the problem? It seems to me that many other people are being hit by
the same problem. If you could post actual download links it would be
appreciated because I am unable to view any internet pages at all.
