IE cannot find webite that i use all of the time

IE cannot find web address that i know is safe and had
just used the day before. I found a post and reply and
tried what was recommended by searching for HOSTS file and
opening with notepad, but there was nothing referring to
the website that I need to access in them????????
 
What error message do you get?

Can you ping the site?
At the DOS prompt execute
PING www.mysite.com
Do you get positive feedback.
What is your operating system?
Do you use Modem or DSL?
