IE Browser Locked

Hello, and I hope someone is able to help as my system is
in a mess. First I really need to know how to unlock the
IE Internet options as I locked it with 'about blank' as
the Home page. I think my home page has sbeen hijacked as
I could not get drid of 'about blank' but now it is locked
and I don't know how to reverse this. Today I have been
shut down with a message shut down by NT Authority Systeem
and a seconds count down before windows closed. I think
this is a virus or worm as I am sure windows does not use
a countdown before having to close. I have Vet antivirus
in Australia with auto download but a scan found nothing.

My system closed when checking the system with Spybot. I
am afraid to do fanything now as it will close down or get
worse. There are so many programs and suggestions I am
confused and suffering from information Overload!!!! Can
someone please set me on the right track. Thanks a lot.

page settings using a patch, download from here:

Hello again Venkatesh,

I am not too familiar with all this but I have followed
all your recommendations and still my browser changes to
about blank in the address bar. I now have both patches
for locking and unlocking the home page on my desktop.
Several times (probably wrong to do?) I have clicked on
the unlock icon which sent it to the Registy. then I
entered my home page url.I clicked on the lock icon on my
desktop and it went in the registry. My home address was
locked in and greyed out in IE. Some minutes later after
visiting your supplied URLs I checked and found about
blank back in the browser. So I repeated the above - does
this mean I have put the lock and unlock patches in the
registry many times?

I can't reach the site to download CW/shredder.exe - all
links I have tried give site not available message?? Looks
link I am in a mess. Any suggestions? (other than chuck it
out the window!!!) Cheers John. By the way, before I read
your reply several things turned up on my desktop -
security cop or somthing and PC Protection Unfoirtunately
perhaps, I delted them as I was sure I did not downloiad
them!!

Try these two registry fixes:

Usage: Double-click to install and answer YES when promtped.

Above fixes should help you eliminate the restrictions in Internet Options.
