Me
I have a Windows XP SP1 computer connecting to the
internet thru a LAN. When I click on the IE icon it does
nothing for no less then 1 1/2 min and sometimes up to 20
minutes at which time it will finally open up my default
Home page(www.yahoo.com). It seems that the problem is
with actually opening up the IE6 app and not the web page
because as soon as the IE app shows up yahoo is there(no
loading web page message). I can also open My Computer
and then type in www.yahoo.com in the address bar and
yahoo will show up in less then 5 seconds.
What I've tried already that didn't help:
- Browsed to the iexplorer.exe file and executed it to
verify that it wasn't the icon causing the problem.
- applied all SP1 critical/security updates
- Cleared internet temp files, cookies and history
- Used disk cleanup to remove temp files
- updated my virus scan dat files
- Had user log into another computer with their roaming
profile to see if problem followed them. It didn't
- Swapping ports on the hub with a computer that doesn't
have the problem
- made sure that it was not trying to Automatically
detect internet settings such as a proxy.
- statically assigning an IP address and other
configuration settings rather then using DHCP to set
Any ideas?
