IE and Offline Mode

My IE seems to be in offline mode permanemtly and I can't
seen to fix it. My laptop is networked thru my desktop so I
can use the faster modem. IE works fine on the desktop, but
the laptop seems to be in offline mode and I can't reset
it. Every time I try to use IE I get a error "Webpage is
Unavailable Offline" then a dialog box pops up and it wants
me to choose "connect" ot "work offline". I am already
on-line thru my desktop. Netscape works.

Do you still have a connectoid there for your Connections settings?
I'd try removing it and make sure that you have Never dial... set.
(AFAIK removing the connectoid there is not the same as deleting it
so you would still be able to use your modem manually.)

If that is not enough try using the Connections Setup wizard to see
if it can help configure your new preferred connection.
(I haven't used it before to do this but one of the things it claims to do is:
Set up a home or small office network
)
